I resolve:

  • To limit my use of "Obama" in the title of diaries
  • To continue the struggle to improve the economy
  • To recognize capitalism is not the solution to every problem
  • To write at most one diary a day no matter what DK allows
  • To work to fix health care and move towards single payer health care
  • To fix laws governing financial institutions
  • To keep social security, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • To build a better more caring society
  • To improve education through a number of different means including but not limited to more pay for teachers; smaller class room sizes; more time for teachers to prepare classes; national guidelines; reducing standardized testing; focusing on the students and their needs; less administrative overhead; ridding us of no child left behind and race to the top; using information technology to deliver better more accurate text books; . .

To continue, I resolve:

  • To criticize Obama/democratic policies when needed
  • To help society recognize the information technology revolution and the impact that revolution is having on the world
  • To fight for dramatically lower defense spending
  • To fight for birth management including but not limited to providing free birth control (condoms, pills, shots, vasectomies, tubal ligation, . . .) for all who want it; paying men to have vasectomies; paying women a whole lot of money to have tubal ligation
  • To fight for R&D for inexpensive energy including but not limited to wind power; solar power; hydroelectric power; . . .
  • To fight for a more equitable distribution of income such that everyone becomes "wealthy"
  • To fight for more efficient energy use including but not limited to mass transit; more use of electric power; more and better urban living conditions; better rail service; more efficient use of electricity;
  • To improve international trade agreements by insisting our trading partners payer better wages; enable unions with elected union leaders; reform their currency; . . .
  • To work at making the world a better place for humans
  • To encourage both the exploration of space as well as exploration of the seas

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  I have only one resolution. All the rest are (5+ / 0-)

necessities of change.  And the resolution is coming in the next few days.

    1.  My predetermined date to quit smoking is in 8 days.
    1.  Quit blogging (so most people won't be hearing from me again for at least 2 or 3 years, except possible occasional comments).  That's not a resolution -- that's a necessity of the plan.
    1.  My job will be changing radically in a few days -- that is, the decisions will be made about it in a few days .. the actual change will be in a few months.  This will either result in me either losing my job, or radically increasing my responsibilities.  That I have no idea which one is not very much fun, in a planning sense and it all has to do with forces and people outside myself, LOL.
    1.  All future decisions flow from item #3.

I will go to the gym religiously until around January 12th.

Who would have known when I applied at Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts 31 years ago (in April) to try and begin a career in radio, that it would turn out to be the job that would safely carry me across the abyss that is the worst recession in a decade, as disciplines that are infinitely more interesting, and more important than are disappearing like snowflakes on a hot tin roof?

    Radio. heh. Go figure.

    knock on wood.

    very well paid.

I'm going to lose my excess weight and get back into my "I can shoot porn today" shape.

I will throw away/recycle all the crap I don't need/use. I have a lot of books that would look good to people who shop in thrift stores.

I will shop more at thrift stores that support good people.

I will be more tolerant with my customers when they ask odd questions. I am in a service industry (as always) and my income depends on people not understanding computers/networking.

Also, I'm going to look at a job as a "rigger" at

Religion: Treat it like your penis. Don't show it off in public, and don't shove it down your children's throats. (-9.00,-8.41)

  •  Typical resolutions (1+ / 0-)
    Recommended by:
    1. Lose weight/get in shape
    1. Save money

As part of 1 and 2, I plan to stop eating sweets and meat. Sweets (ice cream, candy, etc.) serve no useful purpose and meat is just too expensive. I'll get my protein from milk, eggs, and beans primarily.

    1. Move to a better place.
    1. Find a part-time job.
    1. Buy precious metals - silver and gold.
    1. Be neater.
