Yep, that's what I want. A Democratic Tea Party organization that is feared by their own party as well as the opposition. I want an organization with teeth that doesn't equivocate or compromise with its elected representatives.
I don't know what to call it, but "coffee party" didn't do it for me. I want something more powerful, a name that will resonate with power and passion. I want leaders of this organization to operate in a manner similar to those of the hideous Tea Party who were obnoxious, but effective.
It has to be grassroots built just like the Tea Party was at the start of the 111th Congress. I want to see activists ready to demonstrate on the steps of the Capital with signs and be dressed in costumes, may I suggest they should be dressed as Union soldiers with fake muskets (after all didn't the Union soldiers win the Civil War and preserve the Union of the United States); they were the true Patriots not like the Confederate Army soldiers of the Slave States seceding from the Union.
I especially liked "don't tread on me" on Tea Party t-shirts..I don't want to be tread upon as well..The Tea Party's rallying cry was "take back America" and I would like to expand this to... "take back America from the Corporatists." This new Democratic Tea Party would insist that there should be a law to publicly fund elections and overturn the Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court.
And as the 112th Congress grinds away at President Obama's Affordable Care Health Act, I want Democratic Tea Party spokespeople from the Heartland and Urban areas as well appearing on Fox, CNN, MSNBC to loudly insist on a Medicare buy-in/ single payer system, or a buy-in to whatever health insurance our elected representatives enjoy. After all, we, the tax-payers pay for this.
And among the the other "ponies" I would like is a War Tax on the wealthy to pay for our costly wars already waged in Iraq and Afghanistan that were never paid for and, of course, an end to these wars as well. Yes, I know it's really all about Pakistan and their nukes falling into the hands of terrorists but, really, with India nearby, is there really any chance of that happening? Like Iraq was to Iran, India is the counter to Pakistan.
So all I need is a name, activists, the professional and the unprofessional left progressives to make an earthquake of a movement to challenge the hard Right in their corporatist agenda. I don't want to give up on the fight, do you?
