A lot of readers who left comments in the Insourcing Series were asking for information on which products were made by prisoners within the various prison industries. You also asked to identify the corporations partnered with prison industries under the Prison Industries Enhancement Certification Program (PIECP). In response I began sorting and compiling the information on hand into those two topics to start of 2011.
Below I’ll list the state, name the prison industry, corporations partnered under PIECP (where available) and a list of products made. If an industry has a member upon the NCIA Board of Directors, they are named and links to their email provided.
Keep in mind, the NCIA is the "oversight" arm of the PIE program that establishes compliance or non-compliance with the nine (9) mandatory requirements of the program, one of which is "no private sector job displacements."
