Fortunately for all of us Parents, Students, Carpenters, Teachers, Electrical Engineers, Horticulturists, Nurses, Grocers, Potters, Interior Decorators, Entrepreneurs, Landscapers; all of us that aren't them - the Fundamentalist Right is going to read the Constitution on the floor of the House to expose our "Not-Americanness" and educate us on the finer points of life at the fringe.

Quote of the day:  "The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it - and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.  And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country will do for you - ask what you can do for your country."  President John F. Kennedy

Research topic: THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

There is a middle and most of us live there.  Fringe is attractive on curtains and throw pillows.  It's the first embellishment to be torn and discarded - it's where the fire catches hold.

Fox News is fringe masquerading as the middle.  Sara Palin, Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, etc. are the lunatic fringe.  There is nothing middle about any of these guys.  Can any woman/mother in America truly relate to the new millionaire Sara Palin without her and Fox telling them to do so?  Glenn Beck is so obviously deranged that I guess he becomes attractive in an Elmer Gantry/Richard Nixon sort of way.  Mike Huckabee wants to first kill Julian Assange and then the rest of us in a horrible biblical apocalypse.  Fox has successfully co-opted reality with persistent propaganda using their very clear understanding of the mistrust, discontent and fear prevalent in the middle today.  We are watching the middle become the fringe.

Fox News, using the overblown egos, crass materialism and mental instability of its workforce is masterfully manipulating good people – why?  What really is behind this?  Is it just about money?  Is it really that simple and disgusting?  Are the folks that work for Fox that base and craven?

They know the America we now live in and it’s not the iconic, mythic America they claim they are trying to protect – it’s an America that has absolutely succumbed to Raw Capitalism.  Capitalism has stolen our hearts, taught our children, ravaged our schools, destroyed our environment, killed our neighbors, silenced our prophets and beaten middle class ploughshares into swords.  The Tea Party Movement is now wielding these metaphorical swords.

The words of President John Kennedy echo starved and pitifull down the halls of News Corporation, where those good folks laugh hysterically, hunkered down behind closed doors – smug and afraid.

Rupert Murdoch also owns THE WALL STREET JOURNAL – in the words of two immortal Texas troubadours: “think about it darling”* “Everyone's been sold American.”**

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
