Welcome to Press the Face, a Sunday-morning talk show liveblog where you can respond to the Sunday talks with your opinions, support, refutations, or ravings. The larger goal is to provide meaningful accounts of the the shows for those who are unable to watch them, but it's also an opportunity to share our thoughts in real time as armchair spectators of the sport of political discussion.
Our hearts are with the victims of the shootings in Tucson yesterday, as well as with the families and friends keeping vigil outside the University Medical Center where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords fights for her life. May this hideous crime bring an end to the use of hateful language and violence as tools of political manipulation, as Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik put it so eloquently in last night's news conference. But brace for the Right's characterization of Dupnik's call for more civil discourse as a threat to freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. Let's hope that "pray for peace" doesn't become "prey for piece."
