We haven't had a full-on, general, all-hands-on-deck Daily Kos Roll Call in almost a year!  Some people who used to do these regularly, going back to 2003, seem to have been slacking!  (Click both of those links to get a sense of the history of DKos Roll Calls.)

With DK4 around the corner, and a holiday weekend on the way, this seems like a good moment to keep track of who we are.  And -- the theme of this roll call -- where we are.  After all, DKos 4 will enable us to create groups to follow our state's politics -- or our Congressional District, our Assembly District, our School Board, whatever we want -- and we might as well get used to getting to know our neighbors.

UPDATE 2: I had a child without knowing it!  If you want a less crowded venue to roll calling, ericlewis0 has a place for you right over here!

I'll steal the format from the redoubtable Delaware Dem, whose diary (at the second link above) has links to a history of DKos roll calls:

I think it is time to get to know our community again.  So here goes.

First, please recommend this diary so that as many Kossacks as possible can participate.

Second, in the comments below, and only if you are willing, please post a comment with your username/handle as a title and containing the following information [note: which I have changed a bit -- because I can!]:

Your Age
Your Gender
Your Congressional District (or, if you're not in one, your territory, province, or state, as well as nation if it's not the USA)
Your town, city, state of residence
How you get by (occupation or other source of livelihood)
What current political figure you appreciate most (this can be a little arbitrary)
What areas of interest you have that you might want to affiliate with on DK4
Your Daily Kos User ID (and previous ID if you want to divulge)

To find your UID, find a previous comment of yours on your comment page.  Hover your mouse cursor above your username, and in the status bar on the bottom left of your screen should appear the number.

Remember, this is completely voluntary.  If want to participate but do not want to give out any of the details above, that is fine too.

My example will be in the second top-level comment below.  Try to put your info in a top-level comment and use replies to top-level comment on what others have posted.

UPDATE: You can see updates to the poll after this diary had been up for one hour here.  These figures will likely change in interesting ways over the course of the day.  If someone wouldn't mind updating occasionally, replying to the comment I just linked to above, that would be appreciated and possibly fun!  Let's see what happens as the latecomers come in!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
