I was just reading juliewolf's diary I just didn't see that coming and these are a few thoughts of my own about the topic.
i think there is a difference between people who make a choice to oppress others so they themselves can get ahead and those who prejudge others because... well because that's what human brains do. they prejudge. it's part of our ability to navigate in this life. our brains try to fill in the gaps on things we don't know.
i think that shaming people for being prejudice is causing a lot of unnecessary conflict due to resentment from people who have racial prejudices but who mean no harm to anyone from it.
i think we should shift away from shaming people for being prejudice and just try to help them fill in those gaps with the truth about people they prejudge. that's what really works anyways. if you shame away someone's belief but you don't fill in the hole that belief was filling it usually results in them going back to the belief and believing it even more than before.
