I still remember flipping through the channels looking for news on the primaries for the 2008 general election and stopping to watch this guy in glasses yelling everything I had been thinking. That was my introduction to Keith Olbermann. I have this sneaking suspicion that I am not the only one who discovered Keith that way. Shouting it from the rooftops. Those are the words I think of when I think of Keith Olbermann.
So, here I am, a few minutes ago I finished a milestone on a video game I've been working on since before Obama became President and I send the download link to the big important people to play the demo of the game and I see out of the corner of my eye that Keith has left MSNBC and just like that Countdown is over. Talk about feeling a roller coaster of emotions in the span of a few minutes.
I am not worried about Keith landing on his feet. He's got a giant fan base. He will be followed to where-ever he goes. But I'm sad that I won't see him and Rachel chatting between shows. I won't see the two of them smiling huge when President Obama knocks the SOTU out of the park next week. I won't see the two of them excited to announce that Obama won re-election in 2012. Keith and Rachel are like family now. I feel like my older brother just moved out of town. I can call, yeah, but it's not gonna be the same.
Thanks for the years of Countdown, Keith. I'm sure you'll be setting up shop somewhere else soon enough. Until then, Good Night and Good Luck. Not that you're going to need it, brother.
