This one starts out a bit boring, but bear with it and listen OR Go to minute 2:22 to hear Rick Warren tout Hitler, Lennon, and Mao as leaders that inspired youth. "We need to teach our children, like Mao did" "Brown Shirts formed with their bodies a sign "Hitler, we are yours and they nearly took the world"
Rick Warren simply parrots what Doug Coe has spread worldwide for 60 years. Go to 4:58 and listen to the end.:
Both have perverted the meaning of Matthew, Chapter 10. Both have millions of followers world wide. And both counsel our leaders. This is not good for a lot of reasons.
Go here to read about Coe and The Family. Also, a lot of videos of his speeches.
My dear progressive friends.
Take me at my word, the fit is about to hit the proverbial shan unless we open ourselves to truly understanding what is happening. Sharlett did a wonderful job letting us know about The Family; HOWEVER, he didn't provide a scriptural analysis so we can debunk everything they teach.
They have plans. Plans that will eliminate many people in the name of religious fervor. They are emboldened now. Koch brother meetings. Davos. And so on.
I think we need to at least push back with information for others to review. Perhaps enough will not follow and cooperate in the heinous plans for humanity.
I will do this tedious task if you are interested.
Let's please put aside attitudes about religion. Religion isn't the issue. Please don't launch into an argument about that today. But do share whether you are interested in having Coe and Warren's words debunked.
THE ISSUE is the misuse of religion and the misinterpretation of scriptures to justify what we see as our foreign policy and the efforts to dismantle our social safety nets.
The heartlessness is based on a perverted interpretation designed to mislead people, in order to seal power in the hands of the rich and powerful. Our military is being indoctrinated as well. I see this as being just as potentially dangerous as the Taliban rule was in Afghanistan, especially for women, girls, and gays.
Until and Unless we take the time to truly understand what the true meaning of scripture is, we can't assist in debunking what Coe, the Kochs, and our Congress People believe. We can't help our friends and family members see where they are being misled.
I am willing to transcribe Coe's words and then use my research tools to debunk his interpretation.
I am ready to do this. It won't be the difficult for me because I have studied and pondered the scriptures for over 40 years, independent of biased teachers like Coe.
However, this is a lot of work and I feel like I will be going quite far out on a limb. I am not sure anyone is interested; therefore, if there is no interest I will not take the time or the risks.
So, let me know.
Are you interested in a well-cited (references begin in the year 205 AD) rebuttal to the frightening rhetoric being spread world wide to spiritually hungry people and used by corporate and political leaders to control them? I believe the false teachings help explain why so many seem to vote against their 'own self interest'.
Namaste
For those of you who have enjoyed studying Matthew, I highly recommend reading this ancient translation. The notations include transcriptions dating back to 250 AD. I think that you will find, upon reading these, just how far away todays so-called Pastors/Preachers have strayed from the original scriptures. You will certainly find the quantum leaps taken by Warren and Coe.
Keep in mind, that those who don't value a spiritual life, but want the outer appearance of having one (hypocrites for the most part) are the ones who follow Coe, Warren, and other purveyors of the gospel of prosperity. They are taught the poor are poor because they are unworthy. That is why they have no compassion. Trust me, and I am sure most here know, that was not the intention of Jesus Christ. On the contrary.
You can find the notations here. If nothing else do read Matthew 10 verses 34-42. Then share this with your conservative Christian friends who might be a little open to reading other interpretations than they are hearing from their pulpits.
Fight fire with fire.
TRANSCRIPTION:
The following transcription is from a speech given by Doug Coe in 1989 to a group called the Navigators, according to the title of the youtube video. There are four (4) parts, the following is Part I.
The video series was posted by Warren Throckmorton You can read what he had to say. Jeff Sharlett debate in comments there.
Here is the entire transcription. Will discuss it below. Thought it would be helpful to be able to read without interruption.
Oddly, Coe mentions Tunisia, back in 1989 as a good example of dedication to its principles. That didn't work out so well, did it.
TRANSCRIPTION:
.....You can add to them, but I want to suggest you can't subtract from them. I will only quote the ones that were absolutely said by Jesus....
A believer is a follower of Jesus Christ. So let's follow him. Let's not follow the others (paraphrased).
I get concerned Protestants view of Catholics and their great concern about "Maryolitry", kind of leaving Jesus in the background, however, the very people that complain about them are guilty of Paulolitry. They wonder why we are so big on Paul. I think we should be big on both. but I think we ought to be bigger on Jesus Chrise, because without Jesus Christ, Mary and Paul are nothing. And neither are we. Without Him we are absolutely nothing.
So let's look to what Jesus said when He was wandering around Galilee with his friends.. And not only John and the 11, I want to say they weren't the only the only Disciples. There was Joanna, Mary, Mary Mag, Suzanna, and I want to say that in terms of intimacy I think they beat us. There were so intimate they don't have to have their names printed every minute. But when it came to some of the things Jesus needed to have done, He trusted them.
Furthermore, it was those women that supplied the daily needs for Jesus' friends, his men friends, before they went out. Talk about an responsibility and opportunity and a beautiful thing was Jesus relationship with those women.
And I want to tell you and as far as I can ascertain, Abram Vereide with whom I labored for years before he died, and I loved him like my own father, there would be no Abram Vereide if there had not been a Marian Johnson, who was an eccentric lachy from New York who met Christ. She's the one that had the vision, she's the one that paid the bills, she's the one that prayed for hours.
No one remembers her.
Behind John Wesley, Martin Luther, and Whitfield, there were some tremendous women, not discounting Suzanna his own mother.
I am telling you that this team in Christ there is no black, no white, no rich, no poor, male, nor female.
We are all One in Him.
But hear Jesus.
And I will comment briefly on what Jesus says. And you will notice as you go through the gospels He said in certain places that "if you do not learn, a chapter a week, from memory, you cannot be my Disciple" (laughter from gathering). No He didn't say that.
Goss (?) used to say "It isn't how much you go through the Bible, it's how much it goes through you."
I know a man that can't read or write, he just knows a few verses, but he radiates Jesus Christ. He just knows "twinkle, twinkle little star" but he really twinkles. He's got it.
But Jesus was walking along one day, and He said to his disciples:
"If any man comes to me and does not put be before mother, father, brother, and sister, and his own life, then he can't be my disciple." Coe 1, not quoted from the Bible.
That is what He said.
And you may be the greatest soul winner, discipler, friend, and everything else, and I'm not going to explain what that means to you, I can't, but I can tell what it means to me but I can't tell you what it means to you.
But I know this that if Jesus reins in your heart, He told us He would send His Holy Spirit to teach you and bring to your memory what He said. And one of the things He
said
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple." Coe 2, Luke 14:26
So I don't care whatever other qualifications you have, if you don't do that, you can't be a Disciple of Christ. You want to be a follower of Christ, a companion of Christ, a friend of Christ, a follower of Christ, if you do everything else and you can't do that, you can't be His disciple, Jesus said that.
Jesus said you have to put me before other people. And you have to put me before yourself.
Hitler, that was a demand to be in the Nazi Party. You have to put the Nazi Party, and its objectives, ahead of your own life, and ahead of other people.
I've seen pictures of the young men in the Red Guard, 20 years, 22 years old, in China, a table laid out like a butchers table, they would bring in this young man's mother and father, lay her on the table with a basket on the end, he would take an ax and cut her head off (Coe raises his arm and swings it down, as if wielding the ax). They have to put the purposes of the Red Guard ahead of their mother, father, brother, sister, and their own life.
That was a covenant, a pledge.
That's what Jesus said.
Today, in Los Angeles, in the gangs, you violate the code, you are dead. It's happening everyday, today, in this country, this very day.
Taken right from the Scriptures. Jesus Christ said
"If you do not put Me before your father, mother, your brother and your sister, you cannot be My disciple." Coe 3, not quoted from the Bible.
If you are going to have any movement that moves men and nations, you have to have that kind of commitment.
Jesus knew that. That's the way the social order is run. If you don't run it this way, the social order goes into disarray.
We start at 9:00 and quit at 5:00. And pay a $100,000 a year.
That isn't the way they worked around Ho Chi Minh. They worked 24 hours a day. They were together when they were apart. They had a covenant and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honors for the Declaration of Independence, and every man lost his, all 59, all but one lost his life. I think that was the record.
That's why we are here. There was a revolution. Jesus Christ is part of a revolution. He's the most revolutionary figure in history. The revolution of love.
Jesus Christ said:
If you do not put Me ahead of father, mother, brother, and sister, and your own life, you cannot be my disciple.
Christ before others. Christ before self.
The Communist Party before others, the Communist Party before self.
I heard a speech of Gorbachev, in Moscow, to 12,000 students from Socialist countries that he brought for 10 days to talk to them. Can you think of a head of a western country that has done that in your lifetime? Can you think of any head of state like Gaddafi and the President of Tunisia, for 2 weeks brought 1,500 of the leading young people of Africa together and spend two weeks with them to discuss the African revolution.
We get a few people that graduate with honors from Yale and Harvard, they pass through and we give them pin, we shake their hand, and they go out. No vision, no purpose, no nothing.
No national purpose. I can go on.
But Gorbachev and his speech. I listened to it, to those kids, change two words and Billy Graham could have signed the talk.
I can think of one of the passages. I'll try to quote it for you, he said:
"The greatest need of the hour is to mobilize the young people of the world, to fight injustice, to help the poor, to fight the future holocaust due to nuclear arms, to fight for mercy, and peace on earth, good will towards men. That's the possiblities of the youth of the world."
The only thing he didn't say was "Let's band together around Jesus Christ"
He said "Let's band together around Marx and Lennon, and let's do it."
And the kids love it.
We don't even ask them to give their lives, their fortunes, or their sacred honor.
We argue about giving 10% and a gift.
__________
Scripture References in Coe's talk: Matthew Chapter 10 and Luke Chapter 14.
Coe 1: "If any man comes to Me and does not put Me before mother, father, brother, and sister, and his own life, then he can't be My disciple."
This is not a quote from the Scriptures. Jesus never said this.
Coe 2: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple." Coe 2, Luke 14:26
Coe 3: "If you do not put Me before your father, mother, your brother and your sister, you cannot be My disciple." Coe 3, not quoted from the Bible.
I will begin by stating the obvious. The exact words of Jesus Christ may not be known, as Matthew and Luke seem to disagree.
That said there is a huge difference between sequence of priority and hate.
Here are the two scriptures:
Matthew 10:37
He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
Luke 14:26
"If any man come to Me and hate not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.
