They're here, all right. I don't know if they are just left wing crazies or right wing nut subversives who are visiting DailyKOs to foment division among Democrats and progressives, but I can't believe the number of fools listening to them.
Yes, this is about Egypt.
The number of diaries posted recently that either imply or directly accuse President Barack Obama of being on the side of the Mubarak regime and against the Egyptian protestors has risen to a ridiculous level. I admit to failing my college mind-reading class (actually, I didn't take one), so forgive me for stooping to asking a fanciful question: "What the hell do these Obama-haters (and that's what they are, Republithug, Tea Bagger, or Puma) think the POTUS can do that he hasn't already done?
He's condemned the violence which was started by the ruling party's relatives, sycophants, and pay--roll--ees; he's stated his support for the people of Egypt who want the old autocrat to go; he emphatically announced to the world that there must be a transition and that it must begin NOW. And behind the scenes he's working the phones, encouraging other allies to put pressure on Mubarak to get out now, and he's on the phone, I'll bet on a daily basis, with Mubarak himself. What do you want the POTUS to do? Send in the marines? Invade a sovereign nation like George Bush? Militarily remove the guy that one of our chief allies, Israel, doesn't want to see go, the guy who, like it or not, has provided some level of stability to a volatile and important region of the world---in favor of the USA and our allies, including Israel. Get thousands killed when the proud Egyptian army RIGHTFULLY resists invasion?
All of you right wing and left wing critics, are never able to provide a constructive answer to that question. It leads me to conclude that you are either just plain hateful or naive.
The die is cast for Mubarak and his clan. They are toast. Mubarak, while a dictator, is not Sadam Hussein. It is not in our interest to participate in any kind of humiliation of Mubarak, like having him dragged through the streets while pelted with eggs. Our brilliant POTUS is going to work with Mubarak and help him find the exit door, and it won't take until September.
Meanwhile, the Obama-haters continute to criticize, offer no sensible or workable solutions of their own, while President Obama, as is his way, works to get it done the right way at the right time, like he does with everything else.
I was born in the 1950s. This man, President Barack H. Obama, may be the most brilliant President of the United States in my lifetime. Moreover, he has a level of integrity and decency that could be matched only by former President Jimmy Carter, a good and decent human being and president who was stabbed in the back by the left wing of his own party. The result: TWELVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF DARKNESS UNDER THE REAGAN-BUSH REGIMES.
Let's not do the same to this president. We know what's coming. There's no hope for the Tea Baggers and Republithugs. But to you progressives, socialists, and liberal Democrats, I ask that you be patient. And watch our great President git 'er done.
**UPDATE** Thank you for the rec list. It was unsought and unexpected but appreciated.
