I sure as hell hope, I don't regret doing this. However, sometimes it helps to face what it is in front of us that spurs us to say or do certain things.
It's important I feel, to note, disagreements here of different levels arise from time to time fueling an all out trading of barbs. Oh hell, just say it. PIE.
I have disagreements with Mrs. wxorknot on a semi regular basis. That said, I have no intention of divorcing or leaving her. We hold to much in common and our investment in each continues. Although the years (25 of them now) has seen us view things from a different perspective on some issues, that everyone here is aware of if you are together in a relationship.
Here, at this site we have a relationship as well and like a personal relationship with ones that we love, disagreements can be the order of the day. It's just one of those funny quirks of being human.
It is I believe, natural to argue and disagree. If there was ever one truism it is this. "I guess we'll have to agree to disagree."
In the heat of the moment it is easy to loose sight of that and I am as guilty as the next.
A few days ago there was a difference of opinion that I had with another commenter here. No big deal really except in my opinion, and that's all it really is, my opinion. I felt as though the tone was not set up properly if you will, in the comment that was made on his/her part. I even noted that I agreed with what the commenter was saying and asked for a bit more clarification.
In retrospect I think perhaps that my return "tone" didn't do anything to foster good honest debate. But as they say, hindsight is indeed 20/20.
So where in the hell is this going?
What are we trying to do here at Daily Kos? Really, we all have pretty much the same damn thing in common, yet we are escalating the rhetoric to a Palin level. Sorry that just came out and believe me, I am not about to take any side in what is on the rec list today.
Here right now, I can say that I have some issues with the president, but they by no means are not going to stop me voting for the man should he run again. Which I expect he will. Voting republican is not even in the cards, no matter fucking what.
Now what will happen if a candidate emerges to challenge the president whose views more closely reflect mine? I have no freaking idea, except I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I am a liberal progressive Democrat damn it and that is where I will be till the day I grasp my last dying breath.
I stand shoulder to shoulder with each and everyone on this site because I believe ultimately, we are fighting for the same damn things we find important. We may have our differences and as the president stated so eloquently at the Tucson memorial.
"And I believe that for all our imperfections, we are full of decency and goodness, and that the forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us."
I stand with the president in this regard and will support the causes he champions with me.
I have my disagreements and I am disappointed greatly in some things he has done. However, as in my wife, I am not divorcing from him or the Democratic Party. I will work for a stronger more progressive liberal Democratic Party to the best of my abilities. Furthermore, I will not divorce myself from the members of this community just because I have some philosophical differences of opinion no matter how apart they may seem. I know and feel in my heart we hold a common vision for this nation.
If I am incorrect in that vision, then I am as clueless as Palin.
You may now leave this diary and pick up your pie at the exit.
Thank you for stopping by. Take care.
