OK - I'm up on DK4. I've set up an avatar, I've adjusted my email and other data, and I've found a few groups that I wanted to join. And discovered a few -- well, quirks. They may be "bugs" but I suspect they're mostly mild adjustments/annoyances.
For those who have explored Groups and want to know how to follow and/or join them, I'll give you what I've found out so far. I didn't see this covered in the initial "How-To" guides, so ideally things will get sorted out in comments etc.
As for the "quirks" I've found, they're also listed below. For starters, tho, in order to "Follow" a group, go to the Group's Profile tab. Along the right-hand side, you'll see "More by [group]" and immediately beneath that the word "Follow" appears. Click that, and you should see a small (ever-so-tiny) green checkmark. You're now "Following" the group. Be aware, though, that the group indicator for "Followers" hasn't been updating. It still reads "0" for each group I've joined, but those groups are listed when I try to check the groups I'm following...
To join groups, I've send messages to the groups and asked to join. I've received back invites to join from two of them so far, and accepted the invites with a "thank you" in the acceptance message.
Then I went to the message center. And that's where I found a couple of other quirky elements.
- I could see "All" my sent and received messages, plus a couple others...
I saw two or three other messages (user name and subject line only -- I couldn't access the actual messages, which I'd initially thought had been mistakenly sent to me) requesting permission to join a couple groups.
- When I tried to access a message and realized I didn't have permission to read it, I thought there'd be a link to get back to the list. I didn't see one, so hit the "Back" button. Again, just a matter of getting used to the interface, instead of an actual "Bug" I think.
Regarding Groups, I'm a member/user of one now, and an editor of another, but when I tried to see the group messages I still don't have permission. Good -- I'd rather ~not~ have default permission until I'm sure what I should and shouldn't see, but does the group owner have the capacity to set permissions in the group for members, or (as in the case of being an "Editor" for one group) is there a glitch with the permissions/roles?
Overall, I'm liking what I'm seeing and hoping to see more. I'm also looking forward to participating as the community grows stronger, larger and ideally toward a brighter future for our nation.
Namaste.
