In the Jezebel article about Assange's extradition:
Extradition to Sweden isn't the only problem Assange faces: A former Wikileaks spokesman, Daniel Domscheit-Berg, has published a tell-all book, in which he alleges that Assange has four "love children, the youngest being six months old and in Australia. A source told Gawker, ""He feels obliged to spread his genes. In other words, he thinks he is so good that the world needs more of his kids."
Also in the book: The allegation that Assange was cruel to Domscheit-Berg's cat. "Ever since Julian lived with me in Wiesbaden he (the cat) has suffered from psychosis," Domscheit-Berg writes. "Julian would constantly attack the animal. He would spread out his fingers like a fork and grab the cat's throat." Will the character defamation ever end?
Nothing is proven, but goshdarnit! Assange has provided enough fodder for two lifetimes worth of scandal and innuendo... specifically that Assange is a grade-A douche for needing to dominate a house pet.
Germans have no problem with 'regular' animal abuse per their laws:
In Germany, killing animals or causing significant pain (or prolonged or repeated pain) to them is punishable by imprisonment of up to three years or a financial penalty. If the animal is of foreign origin, the act may also be punishable as criminal damage.
The anon-linked site, 4chan, however, has a significantly dimmer view of animal cruelty, especially, ironically, cat abuse.
P.S. I'm not conflating using a spread hand to antagonize and grab a cat with as serious abuse... but if you did it in my presence repeatedly enough, I'd personally have huge issues with it.
