Deciding to be upbeat and positive about DK4, I visited during Beta, helped break it a few weeks ago contributing to the diary Major Danby put up, "This Diary Has 1000 Comments" (boy howdy, that was fun!), and made the move. It's been thrilling to see everyone as they learn their way around the site and hopefully DK4 will blossom and grow and exceed everyone's expectations.
Maybe "moving" helped create a shift in how I spend my time here, I don't know. I still watch for favorite diarists, series, groups and front pagers. But something is different. I am spending a lot of time and energy on "Diaries". What a gem that spot is!
There are posts I likely wouldn't have read before, some due to subject matter being uninteresting to me or because the author was unfamiliar. But now, knowing that for something worthwhile to see the light of day two TUs have to recommend it, I somehow feel a responsibility to use my current TU status in a positive way. This gives a leg up to the diarist and helps the community have more exposure to different ideas, worthwhile posts that might get lost, or something just plain cool.
The Rescue Rangers do a fantastic job but they can't do it all. So if you're a little lost and overwhelmed (or underwhelmed) by all the Groups and Streams check out the Diaries section. Lots of good stuff is there and all it needs is a little help from a friend.
