A little bird told me that if an alleged Black Muslim Kenyan Marxist Fascist DEMOCRAT was not President of the United States of America, and a Republican was, Senator Jim Demented Demint would not have said this:
"This whole idea that the President is the leader of our country is a mistake," DeMint said during a speech to the Washington, DC chapter of the Federalist Society, according to Talking Points Memo. [...]
... "I've lived in a community and I know where the leaders are and it's not in Washington. And this pretense that he's our nation's leader... I'm not just talking about Obama, I'm talking about any President."
"A candidate who goes out and makes all these promises about what he's going to do in all areas of our society needs to be removed from consideration."
Funny how he never said that before now. Of course, if leaders don't reside in Washington, that means Jim Demented is no Leader, right? That means he has no right to vote to pass laws that effect a woman's right to choose, or cut the Budget for NPR or appear on Fox News to spout whatever inane talking point of the Day he might wish to lie about.
So why did Jim Demint say this about "his leader" President George Bush?
“President Bush has demonstrated tremendous courage and resolve in the past year. He has been the decisive leader these times have required.”
And why is Demint still defending his President Bush and his policies that led us into this Great Recession?
DeMint dismissed a key part of Democrats' midterm messaging — warning voters against a return to Bush-era policies — reasoning that Democrats have been controlling U.S. economic policies during the past four years in which they've controlled Congress. [...]
"The Democrats have been in control of both houses of Congress for four years now. Congress writes economic policy; they spend the money," he said. "So it was the Democrat Congress that wrote the TARP bailout, they did the stimulus, they did the 'Cash for Clunkers.' They have done the healthcare, the financial bill. This is an unchecked Democratic agenda."
Oh, and what about President Reagan? What did Demint say about him?
In my mind, Ronald Reagan was always a great President, but after visiting the Reagan Ranch, I know he would have been a great friend, too.
I never had the chance to meet Ronald Reagan in person. I came to Washington years after he left the White House. By that time, he was more of an icon than a real person. I knew him as the man who won the Cold War and defeated communism. His photo was in homes, offices, and museums all around the country. He was a legend.
It wasn’t until I walked the same dusty paths he walked and stepped inside his home that I realized he was also a regular guy.
Even though he was the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, he preferred to do chores himself rather than calling on a handyman to do it for him. He
laid the stone patio, piece by piece, outside his home. He chopped up used telephone poles to build fences around the property. Rather than purchasing a king-sized bed for
his and Nancy’s bedroom, he pushed two small, twin-sized beds together and bound them with plastic ties.
I
Well, Demint never never met the guy, but boy oh boy was he a great "leader of the most powerful nation on earth..." So why isn't President Obama the leader of the US of A like Bush and Reagan? I mean Obama is the Presient and Demint called other Presidents leaders in the past leaders of our country. Hmmm. Good question.
Yeah, I guess Presidents just are not Leaders of our Country. Except when they are Republican Presidents, of course. By the way Demint has been flirting with running for President. Maybe somebody should ask him why Presidents have all this power and fame but aren't leaders? Or why he wants to possibly run for the office of President if Presidents aren't really leaders? What do you think? I know I'd sure as hell like to put that question to him.
