Sun's up, looks okay
the world survives into another day
and I'm thinking about eternity
some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me.
Sunrise is 6:56AM
The second prahar of the morning.
In Hinduism, prahar is a unit of time. A day is divided in 8 Prahars making each prahar equivalent to 3 hours.
In Hindustani Music there are raga which are prescribed to be performed at particular prahar to maximize its aesthetic effect.
Please note - I am not an expert on Indian or Hindustani music, nor do I pretend to be one. Just taking a trip to "back in the day".
jgnyc provided a couple links in a previous diary for those interested.
Lots of good stuff here with historical and musical analysis.
A link to a "raga clock"
Since I am up way too early, this is a raga for "Lalit", 4-6 AM
Raag Lalit, Ustad Munir Khan, Sarangi
