A famous curse supposedly says "may you live in interesting times." I suppose we are all cursed as these are the most interesting times that I would like to live through over the past several thousand years. Potential for catastrophe there is a plenty but also so much potential for improvement.
The courage and steadfastness and general goodness displayed by all the Arabs over the past several weeks is THE most encouraging thing I've seen since BHO was elected. Is it possible that the human race is GROWING UP?
Wisconsin raises the question whether we are WAKING UP?
Living just a few hundred miles from North Africa I have been astonished by the maturity, courage and secular impetus of the protesters. Everyone has apparently absorbed the non-violent scripture of the American Gene Sharp apart from the Greeks. (see last strike day, Wednesday 23/2/2011)
Even the Libyans, who have been forced to take up arms, have been incredible. The liberated areas are orderly and relatively peaceful.
The entire Middle East is in revolt and I am not scared. This is wonderful.
The American workers are in revolt and I am not scared. This is wonderful.
The global climate is changing and I'm not as scared as I used to be because people are growing up and we are finding solutions: Sunfuels, green roofs (yes, I know it is in Greek, I find it encouraging) and People Power (Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, ect.) This is wonderful.
Something wonderful this way comes, though it may not seem like that right now.
Cheers.
