Up front I will state that I am not religious. Spiritual, but not religious. I believe in a Creator and try very hard to live a decent and moral life and be kind to my friends and others. Therefore, I cringe whenever the proverbial church lady comes to my door thumping her Bible and reciting platitudes that I will go to Hell if I don't follow her beliefs or if I don't vote Republican I will burn in the fire of Satan. Usually she is alone, but sometimes she comes a knock'n with a small army of like-minded cohorts with smiles hiding sharp teeth.
After she left yesterday, I began to really think about her and I finally decided that maybe, just maybe, she had something of value to share with me. Then it struck me like a bolt of lightening between my eyes...people like her are the minions of the so-called Anti-Christ that she rambles about avoiding and who is coming to pull my soul into the pit. It was obvious to me that I was seeing evil incarnate in play at my own front door.
I began to ponder deep down what I am seeing currently at play in this great nation. Extreme wealth for the few at the expense of all others. Elected leaders who believe corporations are far nobler than real people. A Supreme Court who does the bidding of corporate personhood and sows injustice to the people.
Then, last night on MSNBC came the Lawrence O'Donnell show, The Last Word. One of his guests was Wisconsin State Republican Senator Glen Grothman. Mr. Grothman proceeded to call the people of his state a lesser kind of people. Contemptable people he felt was beneath him. I was stunned by his words. How evil this man appears in words and deeds. What is most scary, is that he isn't alone. I think of the Koch brothers, etc.
I now see the Anti-Christ. It's name is Republican.
