I can't believe the "Grey Lady" was so seduced by David Koch's donation of $100 million to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for cancer research that it let David Koch tell his side of the story about his drive to impoverish millions of Americans.
More below the fold:
The venue of the interview was the opening of the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research.
Cancer Research Before Activism, Billionaire Conservative Donor Says
Michael Cooper, the New York Times reporter, served up softball after softball for Koch to knock out of the park.
- David Koch claims he is more interested in cancer research than pushing conservative causes.
- the pranked call to Governor Scott Walker is 'a case of identity theft.'
- claims he never heard the name Scott Walker until the news about the pranked call broke.
- he felt he had been vilified for his support of conservative causes, but when he comes to the opening of the cancer center, everyone treats him like a wonderful fellow, so he thinks he maybe he's not so bad after all.
- On climate change he says "...it is Greenpeace that is the denier here — denier of any rational and honest dialogue on the underlying scientific debate regarding climate change.”
-- And, a warning shot across the bow to progressives in this country he discloses "... he and his brother had not decided how much money to spend to influence the 2012 elections."
I have tried really hard not to editorialize this diary.
