I'm excited for June -- not just because we're still getting snow here in Burlington and I'm ready for summer -- but because I'm really looking forward to Netroots Nation.
As most of you know, this year's Netroots Nation is in Minneapolis, Minnesota starting June 16. You probably also know that each year Democracy for America teams up with Netroots Nation to hold a scholarship competition.
Our goal: Help send the best and the brightest from across the country to the biggest progressive event of the year.
Do you have the stuff it will take to win? Apply now!
Let's face it; we have one of the best online communities in the world right here on Kos.
From the first Yearly Kos six years ago until Netroots Nation today, our annual conference gives us all the opportunity to share ideas, learn, engage and find news ways to be innovative. Even more importantly, it gets a whole lot of us together in one place face-to-face as a community.
This community has had an incredible impact on American politics over the past few years and we're only just beginning. After all, six years isn't really that long and yet, look at all we've done together already.
Imagine if everyone who is part of this community were able to attend NN2011.
That would be awesome and -- obviously -- not possible. I mean, find me a convention center that holds a few million people first, than we'll talk. But it's not just about a place big enough to hold us. The event also costs time and money. The time one has to take away from their job to be there and the money to make it happen.
That's where DFA comes in. Forty of the best and brightest bloggers and/or on-the-ground activists will win a DFA Netroots Nation Scholarship that pays for registration, a hotel room, and several specific meals over the course of the event.
That's why Democracy for America holds this competition -- to help our community get together at one of the biggest most important progressive events of the year.

The competition begins now.
Over the past few years, this program has knocked down financial barriers for 130 outstanding bloggers and activists to attend the conference, and this year we're sending forty more. Don't get left behind because you didn't apply.
Unless of course, you are already going and don't want the financial assistance or prestige of victory. In that case, you can hop on over and voice your support for others instead. The top three vote-getters from each of the two rounds this year automatically win.

And you can always support the program and help us send more than 40 winners this year by contributing right now. If we raise enough, we'll send more. Spread the word.
So, who is the Best and the Brightest here at DailyKos? Post your nominees and thoughts in the comments below.
Good luck to those who compete. I can't wait for the NN2011. We're all going to have a blast and I really hope to see you there.
