Lost amid all the hoopla in Madison and the calls for the Governor's recall or resignation, is what comes after. If Scott Walker holds out until next January he will certainly be recalled and an election will be held to replace him. My concern is what happens if he doesn't make it that long...
Under the rules of succession in Wisconsin the Lieutenant Governor would ascend to the position. Our current Lieutenant Governor is Ms. Rebecca Kleefisch (R-Nutjob). She is the former television news anchor for Milwaukee's WISN, has never previously held political office, and spent last Summer and Fall pandering to the Teabaggers. She is also married to former WISN Investigative Reporter and State Assemblyman Joel Kleefisch (R) from Wisconsin's 38th District.
If you're thinking that perhaps Rebecca might be better than Walker, I feel obligated to inform you of certain facts... For instance her thoughts on State Employee Pensions:
"At a time when families across Wisconsin are hurting, it’s unacceptable that taxpayers are currently footing the full bill for state employee pensions. I applaud Scott’s plan that asks each government employee and our elected officials to contribute their fair share, saving nearly $180 million a year. The only way we’re going to get spending under control is to fundamentally change the way we govern, enacting long-term solutions that reduce the cost of government.”
Maybe you've heard what she thinks of Gay Marriage:
"This is a slippery slope. In addition to that at what point are we going to be okay marrying inanimate objects? Can I marry this table or this, you know, clock? Can we marry dogs? This is ridiculous, and biblically, again, I'm going to go right back to my fundamental Christian beliefs marriage is between one man and one woman."
You'd think after Government Healthcare saved her life she'd be all for the Affordable Care Act, right? Wrong:
"My story also illustrates how dire my future might have been if we had socialized medicine. What if the government had told me I had to wait in a 6 month line to get a CT scan? Or that I couldn’t have Dr. Ludwig perform the surgery? That’s unacceptable to me and my family."
So there you have it... Rebecca Kleefisch in a NUTSHELL and straight from the nut's mouth. I'm sure learning all this begs the next question which I'll just answer before you ask. Third in line for the Governor's position is Wisconsin Secretary of State Doug La Follette, a Democrat, so there is NO WAY IN HELL that Walker and Kleefisch will voluntarily resign together.
What we need to do is make her name synonymous with Walker's so that their fates are tied together completely. If Walker holds out until January we need to (as Puddytat so eloquently put it) recall the two of them together... 2 for 1. We cannot afford to have Walker resign and install Kleefisch at the 11th hour just before he is recalled. Instead of just Scott Walker or Walker it needs to be the Walker-Kleefisch Administration. If Walker goes to the bathroom I want it described as "The head of the Walker-Kleefisch Administration took a leak." WALKER-KLEEFISCH... WALKER+KLEEFISCH... WALKER/KLEEFISCH... WALKER*KLEEFISCH... WALKER=KLEEFISCH....Updated by PvtJarHead at Mon Mar 7, 2011, 08:35:16 PM
