I just joined Twitter two days ago. Why so late? I could not figure out what it's used for, occasional visits by links mystified me, short sentences and links were puzzling. Finally I jumped in. And was swallowed by whirling currents of information exchanged, links to beautiful places I would never visit in my life. I learned more in short time than I could ever imagined.
Unlike Facebook which is more and more resembling collections of fortified towns and blocks with exclusive membership Twitter is all about internet, free exchanging ideas, plans, news, etc. I befriended many, not many followed me in return. I don't hold the grudge, because almost everything in Twitter is open to all. Very few people keep closed Twitter accounts where only approved bloggers have access. In Twitter you don't need to be accepted as a member of elite club like in Facebook to catch snippets of interesting conversations.
Like this talk which happened yesterday and I discovered just now.
BBC's State Department correspondent Kim Ghattas is talking with one ChangeInLibya:
ChangeInLibya: The political requirements and motives for enforcing an NFZ can cause more harm to Libyans than Gaddafi's bombing. We need clarification.
BBCKimGhattas: @ChangeInLibya can you tell me more about you mean? because of fears of foreign involvement?
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas Yes Kim, people are scared about an Iraq situation. We need @NATO to tell us exactly what they intend to do.
BBCKimGhattas: @ChangeInLibya you mean Iraq as in: 10 years of no fly zone with no removal of Gaddafi?
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas Basically, yes. Also random bombings, deaths, violence; and foreign soldiers still on the ground despite no real need
BBCKimGhattas: @ChangeInLibya there were no foreign soldiers in Iraq. not trying to weigh one way or other, just want to understand your point of view
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas for other political stuff, i.e. "NFZ didn't work, we need soldiers in Libya".. then no thanks
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas If the NFZ helps Libyans kick gaddafi out, then it is welcome, but if it is used as groundwork .. (cont)
BBCKimGhattas: @ChangeInLibya what do you want NATO to tell you exactly? what they would do in addition to NFZ?
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas NATO should clarify any plans they are considering for #Libya in the near future.
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas NFZ should be enforced for example by Arab neighbours, or by sea and air only. We just don't want troops on the ground
BBCKimGhattas: @ChangeInLibya tnx for sharing ur views. I think problem is no one knows in advance if NFZ will work. depends on rebels I guess?
ChangeInLibya: @BBCKimGhattas Let's be fair kim, we want this to be won by us from within, not by a foreign military that walks in and pretends to save us.
So many things to absorb in this short conversation, indeed. I wish ChangeInLibya luck in making revolution in Libya which will eventually depose bloody dictator and I am following him. In Twitter.
PS No need to check my Twitter page and follow me if you're not interested in travel around Asia. I am writing about tourist attractions, not politics.
