Since his reelection last fall, Rep. Grijalva has been a busy guy. But rest assured: he hasn’t forgotten the support we here in the netroots gave him as he fought to continue to fight for all of us.
Before we open the floor for questions, here’s a few snippets to show you just what Rep. Grijalva has been doing on our behalf the last few months.
One of his first priorities after the election was to stand up loud and strong against the Cat Food Commission’s recommendation to cut Social Security:
“Social Security has never contributed a dime to the national debt and should never have been part of the Commission’s conversation. The American people have spoken loudly and clearly about their wish not to see Social Security tinkered with, reduced or privatized. All the Commission has to do is catch up with reality.”
from Press Release, 12/1/2010
In January, as ranking member on the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, Rep. Grijalva called on the White House to release unredacted versions of documents handed over late last year in response to his Nov. 30 request for information about the federal response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. And in a moment that made Progressives everywhere get to their feet and cheer, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, under the leadership of Rep. Grijalva and Rep. Ellison staged what can only be called a “mini-filibuster” of the GOP’s No Jobs agenda:
You don’t need to take my word for it. Rep. Grijalva himself is here to answer your questions. This isn’t the first time he’s been here, and it won’t be the last. He’s committed to doing more public outreach this year than ever before, and we’re still talking about more and better ways to do that.
For now, though, the floor is open. What are your questions for Rep. Grijalva?
