By now all of you have read the dueling letters from Senate minority leader Mark Miller and Senate majority leader Scott Fitzgerald, if you have not, here is a link to both.
Now, other than my four years in the Army, I have lived here my entire life...and I have never seen anything this weird.
Follow me below the fold...
I know this may be a rehash of diaries that you have all seen on this subject, but I really want to put my take on this out there. (That and I am bored to tears while waiting for my son to finish his guitar lesson.)
First off, I am shocked that the Senate majority leader would publicly respond in writing to anyone in the manner he has responded to Senate minority leader Miller. To me, this smacks of a total lack of respect for the institution of the Wisconsin State Senate, the state legislature, the state Constitution...oh hell, lets be honest, this is a total lack of decorum by someone who was elected first by the people of his district and then again by the Republican caucus to lead the Senate.
How can anyone that writes a letter like that and then send it...not only send it, but put it out there for public consumption be thinking rationally. I do not see how Senator Fitzgerald can think that a letter like that can help his and the Republican cause.
Now contrast Senator Fitzgerald's letter to that of Senator Miller's. Senator Miller is coming off as reasonable, respectful and willing to compromise. It is a letter from a sane, calm individual.
To me, right now, Wisconsin is at a crossroads, we can have leadership from the right...which appears to have lost its sanity, or, we can have leadership from the left...where sanity still reigns.
I am fairly sure, after Fitzgerald's letter...we are winning this fight. We will prevail...and hopefully, a new progressive movement will start up again, right here in Wisconsin.
Oh, to those who read my diary from yesterday...still no response from WISC-TV3...I am sharpening my letter writing pencil...
