It's still not totally clear what the full story is behind the resignation of NPR CEO Vivian Schiller in the wake of James O'Keefe's latest video sting operation, but NPR is reporting she was pushed out the door:
"I'm told by sources that she was forced out," NPR's David Folkenflik just said on Morning Edition.
If the people who forced Schiller out think that her ouster is going to cause the conservative attack machine to back off, they are thoroughly mistaken. NPR's right-wing attackers weren't going after Schiller as an individual—they were going after NPR as an organization. They will continue to do so, with or without her. Attempts to appease its critics doesn't make NPR any less of a target—in fact, it just makes itself a bigger one.
