One of the huge differences between Republicans and Democrats or Progressives is their respective approaches to power and its uses.

What is becoming increasingly clear is that the citizens of the United States are being preyed and warred upon by this faction of people that care not one wit for the stated ideals for which this Nation was founded.  Republicans have no qualms about using lies, distortions, and even forms of violence to get what they want.  If it is not abundantly clear to even the most moderate of moderates in the Democratic camp, there IS NO barganing with them. They will have their way or blow things up.

Below the fold, I have a link to a  Rachel Maddow segment that includes a discussion with Naomi Klein, author of "The Shock Doctrine - The Rise of Disaster Capitalism."

Our country's legacy is being systematically looted and trashed, we are at war.  And it is not in the Middle East it is right here on the home front.  It is increasingly clear that those that care about our country as a place of increasing liberty and equality, are on our own.  The President isn't going to (or can't) help us, the Democrats in DC so far are not seemingly concerned about what is going on in these states.

The gauntlet is thrown down that you are either for the preservation of our liberty and the world oldest Democracy or you are for the rise of a fascist and totalitarian regime who controls your destiny who will strip you of your assets and sell them to the highest bidder.  --The Michigan bill is point of evidence. In fact, I couldn't help thinking that RoboCop won't be far behind in patrolling a dystopian Michigan real soon.

It is that simple. No triangulating out of this. What is it going to be folks?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

It's long past time to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Landscape. War on unions. War on Women. War on public radio. War on teachers. And where the fuck are the leaders in the democratic party? A white-house too chicken shit to stand for anything, a dem congress full of turncoats like Manchin. We need a new party, one that represents the people. The democratic party doesn't exist anymore.  Someone needs to fight the bully that is the conservative movement because I sure know the cowards in the dem leadership won't.

there are more of us than there are of them.  This is why they need a broad propaganda network, an enormous number of shills, and hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising.  They fight the truth.  Eventually, the truth wins.

in just  two short months.....since the midterms.  This is the culmination of their 30 year plan.

They are on the march.....literally.  If we don't wake up & admit what has happened, we are going to be dominated.   They plan to privatize our schools.  They plan to end public radio.

They plan to remove democratically elected officials by declaring a state of emergency & installing their own hand picked managers.   If they can declare their states as bankrupt, they can default on pensions, contracts & other obligations to workers.

They own the media.  They own the Supreme Court.  They dominate TV & radio.   They own the wealth.   Now they're coming after us.

  •  War? (0+ / 0-)

    What is it good for?

Interesting that one side is fighting against fascism while the other side is fighting against socialism and both are fighting FOR their liberty and their beloved country.  I am not sure any of the warring parties know what fascism or socialism really is.  They certainly don't know much about liberty if they are considering killing those who disagree with them.

Oh, we're not talking about killing?  Then they definitely don't know what war is.

    •  The contest is between people and property. (0+ / 0-)

Conservatives want people to be property and to assign a higher value to property because that's how value is defined -- ownership.

It is difficult to be free in a land where people are bought and sold.  While selling other people is no longer legal, people are expected to sell themselves every day.  They sign contracts for payment, but without money they can't access the food and water they need to survive.  So, they must subordinate themselves to "earn" staying alive.  That's what "there is no free lunch" means.  Either one works to live or one starves.  That the children are malnourished is not a happenstance.  When they are put back to work, they'll be better fed.  Until then, like a scrawny herd, they'll serve as a reserve for the human husbandmen.

Human husbandry.  That's the ticket.  That's the point to which the Sons of Cain have evolved.  No need to slaughter right away what can be exploited and saved for consumption later.

"War" would be if when the democrats found themselves in power again, they used the nuclear option to get things passed they believed in but republicans were filibustering.  "War" would be if when the democrats were back in power, they thumbed their noses as calls for bipartisanship and forced through what they knew was right, when the republicans were standing in the way.

War requires forceful moves on both sides.

    This is just a slaughter.

I have so far raised about $500 to help bust the union busters through Act Blue. Started with Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana. Added Michigan yesterday. Somehow I suspect I will have to be adding more states before this is all done.

I believe we will win this in the end. Republicans have just committed political suicide...but only if WE keep the fight going. Time to stick with the unions and stick it to the pro-Billionaire Republican extremists.

I'm sorry to say, but right now, your Democratic party at the national level is part of the problem and is clueless about the solutions.

This is the Republicans end game and I fear there may not be a sufficient peaceful path to pushing them back.

Are we prepared for what it will take to take our country back? Literally?  This is no longer about just a political contest, this is a real conflict.

It means people in the streets, it means those Democratic and progressive elected officials deciding here and now to stop cooperating with the Republican agenda.  It means doing what the Wisconsin 14 have done at every level.  It means using the courts.  It means prosecuting these filthy bastards for racketeering for this is exactly what it smacks of.  It means preparing citizens for survival in the event of civil unrest and I'm sorry to say, it is not a simple conspiracist fantasy, it is now on the horizon of possible and probable paths of what the Republicans are fomenting.

If you are not alarmed and outraged by what the Republicans are now doing, then you are part of the problem.
