Texas has a $27 billion budget shortfall and the current plan is to balance the budget by taking $10 million from our kids. This is the much ballyhooed 'Texas model'.
It's foolish to cut funding for education.
It's shameful to do so while any business gets any tax break whatsoever.

Texas has a "rainy day" fund with $9 billion in it, but the state refuses to spend that on education. Every school in Texas is preparing to lay off 10-20% of its teachers in April. This rally was calling for the legislature to use the rainy day fund to prevent drastic cuts, while a sustainable funding model in developed.
