From HP:
Coulter said that many scientists have been studying the effects of radiation and have found that, as she put it," at some level--much higher than the minimums set by the U.S. government--radiation is good for you," and actually reduced the risk of cancer.
She repeated this assertion to a skeptical Bill O'Reilly, who told her that, even if there was scientific discussion going on about the effects of radiation, it was the media's job to be "responsible" and "err on the side of caution" about radiation. "You have to report the worst-case scenario," he said, adding that there is a clear scientific consensus that "some radiation will kill you."
To the republicans and conservatives who listen to exchanges like the one between O'Reilly and Coulter: This is how you get duped. This is the moment they create a "gray area" so you can consider the possibility that everything you know may be false.
I know.
You're scared.
More scared than the average human being. You would have to be to be so willing to believe the myriad of lies told to you by Fox and their minions day after day. But it's understandable:
You're scared of radiation, so anyone telling you it's safe calms you.
You're scared of nuclear bombs, so any President telling you we have to obliterate a country that "may" have been responsible for 9/11 is a no brainer. Get rid of Hussein! He's coming after me!
You're scared of homosexuals. I know. You secretly fear that these people you don't understand will confuse your children and dredge up thoughts in yourself that you're not willing to deal with. Much better to keep them at arms length, isn't it?
You're scared of black men... well, not Bill Cosby or Eddie Murphy, but you know what I mean. They're not like you. They live in different parts of your city. How can a President who's half-black be comfortable to you as the leader of the country. There MUST be something out there we can take him down with.
You're scared of those living on the margins. Or people who lost their jobs. Or those in foreclosure. That would NEVER happen to you. Or maybe it did. But it CAN'T be because of a system created by your beloved republicans. It has to be because of that black President.
You're scared of terrorists. It doesn't matter that you live in East Podunk, Indiana. You KNOW the terrorists would target the closest Five and Dime. You can't put this thought into perspective like liberals can - or most of the population of NY that actually LIVED through a terrorist attack (and vote overwhelmingly democrat).
You're scared of liberals, because liberals don't seem as completely and utterly terrified of the world as you do. They seem calm. They make sense. There must be something wrong with them.
You're just more scared than everyone - but that means you have to act tough so no one knows how frightened you are of the world.
You have to cheer endlessly for the destruction of every country where the leaders are not white.
You have to oppose without question any and every attempt made by those "liberals" to change YOUR country, because they are the enemy. At least that's what Rush says.
You have to attack the regular workers. Them, their unions and their $65,000 jobs are out to destroy you and everything you stand for. It doesn't matter that your neighbor is one of them. Hannity says they're the devil.
You have to be callous and indifferent and hard on every other human being because, short of your immediate family and friends, they are all the great unknown, and the great unknown - as all your right wing entertainers tell you - should be feared, not understood.
You have to embrace the lie, because if liberals tell you it's a lie it must be the truth. It must be because Hannity and Rush and Anne and everyone else tells you liberals do nothing but lie, gush about your destruction and are every bit as dangerous as those Iraqi (sorry, Egyptian) guys who bombed us on 9/11.
Remember. War is peace. Ignorance is strength. Freedom is slavery.
Or... it could just be that you're all lilly-livered, pathetic little losers who's fear of the world is so profound it has turned you into a very vulnerable vessel that only wants comforting thoughts and will do, say and agree to anything as long as they can keep their safety blanket.
No. Can't be that. Because you're all tough, courageous and patriotic, right? Sure.
Now. Off to the tea party rally with you.
