My first subject is a sad one-the death of Pinetop Perkins, one of America's great musicians.
He played piano with the Muddy Waters band since the 1960's, released around 20 albums on his own since them. He was the oldest person ever to be awarded a Grammy-for lifetime achievement. He reportedly loved fast food cheeseburgers, and lived much of his life traveling the world with various bands. He played till shortly before his death, and an aquaintance who say him perform in 2009 said Pinetop was still an amazing, complex and firey player even at that time.
He died last week at age 97.
