One of the starkest headlines for today's world now reads:

...A water treatment center in central Tokyo that supplies much of the city's tap water found that some water contained 210 becquerels per liter of iodine 131.
A city official said: "Under government guidelines, water containing a radioactive substance of more than 100 becquerels per kilogramme should not be used for milk for babies."...
The population of Tokyo is over 12 million.
...The warning over Tokyo's tap water came shortly after engineers at Japan's stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant reconnected all six reactors to the electrical grid, but are not yet ready to turn the power on...
Food contamination has spread.
...After shipments of spinach and milk from the Fukushima area were halted because of heightened levels of radiation, new tests found elevated levels of radioactive iodine and cesium, in sea water. That prompted the Japanese government to order monitoring of seafood.
Levels of radioactive iodine-131 in sea water samples near the plant were 126.7 times higher than the safety limit...
The evacuation zone may be inadequate:
...Radiation 1,600 times higher than normal levels was detected 12 miles from the power station, the limit of the evacuation area...
Impacts are being detected around the globe:
...Miniscule amounts of radioactive particles believed to have come from Fukushima have been detected as far away as Iceland.
And we aren't done yet...but we may be sooner rather than later IF we can continue business as usual in the shadow of such stark headlines and information.
