Come to my town and see the real America. I live between 3 empty houses. Two more neighbors near me need to sell their houses and can't. My plumber friend down the street wants to get into a smaller house and can't. 5 years ago he was talking about retirement and now he's talking about working for another 10 years and seeing where he is then. In fact, no one talks about retirement here; they talk about getting through the next couple of years and maybe they'll get a raise or find a new job. People looking for jobs can't find one that would pay their bills.
I don't know where you live, but in my America people are hurting. Austerity is here and they're still cutting away at the budgets. People who badly need behavioral health services are being cut from AHCCCS. Universities are cutting staff and raising tuition. Local governments are cutting staff. Parks are going unfunded. I go to Sam's Club yesterday and I see an old lady with an oxygen tank checking membership cards. When I leave, there is an old man with an oxygen tank checking receipts. I've seen them both there before but it's a bit shocking to see them both there on the same day. In my opinion, it's embarrassing for this country.
Where's your passion for this America?
I think Rachel Maddow said the cost for Libya was $55M per day. I've seen other estimates (that seem high to me) that go up to $2B/day. Regardless, we spent more than half a billion already.
Relatively low cost for Libya? What is the budget for this adventure?
Come to my town and see the people hurting here. Come to my town and show me your passion for these Americans.
