If it's true that the states are laboratories of democracy, then I think it's fair to say South Carolina's our own A.Q. Khan:
Legislation weaving its way through the House of Representatives would increase the number of places that legal gun owners can carry their guns to include restaurants, day-care centers and churches.
“It puts criminals on the defense,” said state Rep. Thad Viers, R-Horry, a co-sponsor of the bill and the owner of about 25 firearms and a concealed weapons permit. “Criminals don’t know if you’re carrying or not.”
Unfortunately, I had always figured that if Jesus came back, or if Donald Trump finally proved Obama was a lizard Kenyan Muslim Communist Nazi, that once the bullets started to fly I could pull a Kindergarten Cop and bunker down in some local day care or whatever and wait for the end of the world (with juice boxes and nap time!). Looks like I'll have to scratch that plan off the list. (But you better believe I'm still going to be packing more than my fair share of juice boxes.)
I tell ya, though, it's getting harder'n harder in America these days to find a place to bring your pre-schooled age child that won't be swimming in sawed-offs. I guess we've just go to start asking ourselves: is our children learning...how to touch the sky?
