Yo, yo, yo! Hollah!
Mel T here, ya'll, takin' a coupla hours offa gradin' 10th-grade papers on Julius Caesar and kickin' back here in my phat crib!
Just chillin' with my shortie, sipping a cup of tea and watching the Kid's Choice Awards on basic cable. Uh huhn, I said it. Basic cable. Oooooh, yeah!
Jump below if you can handle some more...
Have my feet up, a box fan on with the door open, I'm waitin' for the crock pot of chicken and rice (and a can of store-brand mushroom soup) to finish up.
Just another teacher, living the life of Reilly. A couple of more hours of grading to go, some lesson plans to file and an online course to finish up. Feelin' like gettin' a little keee-razy, so I might treat myself to some jello later. Yeah, I got it like that.
Prolly hit the sack by midnight and, then, wake up to write a test for my kids and print everything I need to copy out for the week. Load the car up with my grading bag, a case of Ramen and my refilled gallon jugs of water. Might even throw in a bag of reward candy for my students if I get to the store.
Tryin' to enjoy all the luxury my first-year teacher salary can buy me since, if we Texans are reading the tea leaves right, it's not lookin' good that I'll get to teach a second year. Budget cuts, natch. This, after a year of intensive training and teaching.
If tomorrow's vote in the Texas House goes the way it seems to be headin', I'll be just one of 100,000 teachers across the state, trading in my high-spendin', low-effort lifestyle for a place on the unemployment line.
If I'm terminated in this round of budget cuts, my August check will be taken by my employer as repayment for a federal grant that covered the cost of my teacher training. If I get to stay, I'm up for cut in salary, higher benefit costs, 10 or more days of "furlough" and a loss of my $250 stipend for buying supplies for my room.
Seems fair, given the lavish life my fellow Texans have been lettin' me live. Much love, y'all!
Gotta run! Coupons to clip. Laundry to fold. Dog to feed. Papparazzi to dodge. Papers to mark.
Don't hate! We can't all have it this good...
Peace out....
