What Are You Working On is a community diary series for all things crafty, in a variety of mediums and techniques.
You may volunteer to guest host by signing up at this yahoo group, which I check from time to time. Also by joining this group, you will receive one email a week when the diary is posted.
If you click on the WAYWO group, there is a box for the group about 4 boxes down on the right hand side. If you click on the heart in this box, you will "follow" this group and the diary will appear in your "stream."
I knew that I had a lot of projects on needles, especially since I took the toy class 3 short weeks ago. I didn't really count them. I wasn't overly worried. When I packed for a short weekend trip, I stuffed them all into a tote bag. And I lined them up in my hotel room on the other queen bed.
But they're not all in this photo. And I remembered the two projects (a mini-scarf and my first sock) I left at home. All in all, I counted about 15 projects on needles.
And it seemed like 15 might be too many. Even if one of them was the fancy Irtfaa Faroese Shawl. (waves to Frankenoid)
And I had just started two new toys.
(needs hair, eyes, and doll-babies) (doll-baby prototype is the light colored lump at the left)
(she is now finished knitting, and stuffed, and needs arms, hair, and eyes)
and I have two ready to cast on - with pattern, needles, yarn - just waiting:
(the pink and white yarn is a toy for my daughter, and the burgundy mix is destined for a rather dense ruffled scarf).
OH NOES! What to do?
First, I finished the three projects that were closest to the end.
See the purple lump to the right front? It is now a finished cabled hat.
The blue self-designed scarf is finished - I completed the knitting on the flight last night, furiously stitching away while I told my son to entertain himself. I even had a plastic yarn needle in my purse, so I wove in the ends as well. It needs a gentle wash and a few snips of the remaining loose thread ends, and it is ready to send away to its new owner!
As Sara R said in her diary tonight "It is finished" are three beautiful words indeed. I am going to finish 2 projects before I start one for a little while, until my total on needles is under control.
