This morning I listened to a news program on NPR. The broadcaster actually said these words, "Sarah Palin's recent trips to India and Israel have increased her foreign policy experience". I am not making that up.
I suppose then you could say I have foreign policy experience because I have visited Canada and France. You could also expect that I am an expert on nuclear power because I once visited a nuclear facility and that I am an expert on medical issues and on the health care system because I nearly died last year and spent 8 days in intensive care!
I can hardly wait to get paid for my expert testimony.
But, in all seriousness, has the entire world gone mad? That statement should never have been made by any serious newscaster. Rumsfeld should never have uttered the words, "quite frankly, we did not anticipate this level of insurgency". Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Haley Barber. . .indeed, the entire cast of characters on the Republican side. . .should not even be considered serious candidates.
You have one major political party in which truth and facts mean absolutely nothing and where good science is entirely disregarded in favor of lunatic creation myths. Then you have the other major party which, if the representatives were to sit down together would not be able to agree on what to have for breakfast, where or even, what fucking time it should be held.
We have a world population that is currently at 6.85 BILLION people and we, as a planet, have yet to identify overpopulation as the most serious and pressing problem we are facing. . .indeed the impetous for every single problem facing mankind, whether it be energy, resources, crime, landfill overuse, over fishing of the oceans, pollution, or war.
I sometimes feel like I am the only remaining rational being left on the planet.
