I did not know about the blogger controversy at Huffington Post until I read a recommended post here yesterday.
So bloggers should not be paid, Ms. Huffington?
Interesting.
Let's see if you think my reaction to your channeling Marie Antoinette is to your liking.
I filed this as a bug report on the Huffington Post iPhone app, which was soon deleted from my iphone after doing so.
This is a bug report. Ariana "let them strike" Huffington's decision not to pay for content means I am deleting this app from my iPhone.
I will be paying for the New York Times app, btw. Also will get a subscription to Daily Kos, while I'm at it.
AOL - Time Warner? Hmm, that went well. AOL/Huffington Post? Maybe you can help them arrange the deck chairs as you both slip under the waves of users jumping ship to truly progressive blogs like Daily Kos.
Keep those exclusive stories about Rhianna and Charlie Sheen coming, though, I can't find anything about them anyplace else on the intertubes! Oh, wait a second....
Valued content is worth paying for. Period. if all you do is aggregate other stories, and I frequently saw links away from Huffington Post to content providers, I don't need your app, or its connection to a fading company whose heyday was when a 56K modem was the bomb-diggity!
I used to work for a dead-tree paper - the New York Daily News. Although still a conservative paper, they occasionally get things right, and I will pick up a copy now and then. Their competition in New York is Murdoch's New York Post - which I stopped reading (if rarely) when they published a morgue photo of John Lennon. Nice.
I still will purchase the New York Times when I'm feeling flush - $2.00 a pop can add up, but $15.00 per month for the iPhone app I can probably manage.
I also worked as a courier for ABC World News Tonight in the 80's. I learned that news shows were (and probably still are) the most profitable part of the network, since in comparison to production costs of sit-coms, they are cheap (think rock-stars from Mars demanding the world because - well, you know!).
I encourage all DK readers to dig a little and pay for this site.
We need this place.
