There's an idea making the rounds in some democratic-progressive circles lately. It takes the legend and motto of Robin Hood, the citizen advocate who:
"takes from the rich and gives to the poor"
and reverses that idea, as a way to describe what Conservative Tea Party Governors are trying to do their states. Namely:
"taking from the poor and giving to the rich"
larger
This democratic framing of the GOP overreach, has been dubbed the "Reverse Robin Hood" effect. Which makes for some confusing double takes, on occasions:
The reasoning behind the re-brand usually goes something like this:
[...]
Does the governor think that retirees were just dropped on Earth as retirees? I would venture to say that the vast majority have lived and worked and paid taxes in Michigan for their entire lives. They have been paying taxes for schools, fire protection, police protection, roads, etc.
These are benefits now being enjoyed by the “next generation,” as the governor refers to them. There is nothing wrong with that. That’s what the generation before ours did.
[Snyder] has also said that everyone should sacrifice. Well, what he’s doing, in effect, is a “reverse Robin Hood.” He is taking from the poor and giving to the rich. [...]
Gov. acts like Robin Hood in reverse

While I like the sentiment conveyed -- it hardly "rolls off the tongue ... " Robin Hood in Reverse."
and it makes for confusing Buttons
and some head-scratching Tee-shirts too. (Hmmm, looks like the idea's been around a while.)
A good slogan, needs to be simple, memorable, and clear to most who hear it.
So if you have any ideas how to make this "catchy idea" -- even "catchier, chime in please.
I'm leaning toward: Govt of, by, and for the Rich
But even that as too many words. So help me boil this idea down to one catchy slogan.
Luntz Caps On!
Who are these guys REALLY -- wearing the backwards Tea Party hats?
