Apple has just approved an update to Kossack Reader, the unofficial, native iPhone application for DailyKos, which is now available in the app store.
What's new in this version:
* Fixed to work with DK4
* Pull down to refresh (like in Twitter & Facebook apps)
* Open in Safari button added
* Copy link button added
* Increase font size button added
* Full story title is shown when browsing story listings
* Visual refresh
I've already begun work on the next version which will include "Post to Facebook", "Tweet This" and "Email This" buttons.
Authorization, Commenting & Recommending
I've been wanting to provide the ability to comment & recommend on stories from the application, but there was no good way for a 3rd party application like Kossack Reader to take actions that required you to login to DailyKos.
The tech team at DailyKos has assured me that this technology (called OAuth) is being built as-we-type and will soon be available. This means that I should be able to implement things like commenting & recommending within the next month or two.
I'd like to thank the several thousand users of Kossack Reader for being so patient with me while I got it working again with the new DK4. My day job keeps me incredibly busy and I'm sorry it took so long to finish.
iPad Compatibility
I do not own an iPad and so am unable to test how Kossack Reader works on the iPad. In fact, I did not submit it as a universal application (an app that's been developed to work for both iPhone/iTouch and iPad. So it most likely will not be listed as an available application for iPads.
