OK, people, it’s that time - Progressive Congress News did NOT get the $400,000 Knight Foundation grant we had been pursuing and the cupboard is looking pretty darned bare.
Some good folks have gone through their closets and pulled out tidbits for us to auction so we don’t starve while we figure out what we’re gonna do next.
Good stuff. Really good stuff. Want a peek?
You can get a copy of American Taliban, signed by our fearless leader.
Senator Franken has come across with a signed copy of Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them.
Van Jones has provided a signed copy of The Green Collar Economy
Ever want to meet Joan McCarter? Well, if you’re at Netroots Nation you can score a lunch with her …
And I’m not sure exactly what to make of this, but Twitter Bad Girl in Chief @DCdebbie is offering an hour long tete a tete.
And speaking of D.C., if you’re going to be there you can manage lunch with Darcy for you and a handful of friends.
It was just about a year ago today that Darcy handed me a position paper on building the Progressive echo chamber. We didn’t even talk about it, I just went away and started building it. Now there are about 25 people on any given day reading and feeding good quality news to 600+ staffers, we have a couple of people getting trained on the backend so I’m not a single point of failure, and we have the next few steps for our budding policy news operation already planned.
Our policy news operation. We don’t have 34 corporate think tanks all spouting the same message like the right does. We have a handful of things, good things like Center for American Progress and Media Matters, but no one was doing the specific task we chose, and we do a good job. We can handle the reading and writing … but we need your help with travel expenses, phone bills, and the monthly cost of the Salsa system we use for our daily email blast.
So … buy some of this cool stuff and we’ll make sure the Congressional staff on our side of the aisle are not overwhelmed.
