To my progressive cousins and friends, you should know that I still haven’t recovered from all of the blows you threw at my neck, face, head and esteem on yesterday. Here I was trying to be a progressive warrior and I got totally ambushed by my own crew. All I said was this:
“I expect you guys to boo me off the stage when I celebrate Obama’s negotiation prowess but hear me out before you start throwing rocks. Yes, I still love, support, admire and believe in the man.“ http://www.dailykos.com/...
Before my ink could dry, yall got all “Chris Brown” on me—throwing chairs and trippin’ because I still love the president. That's foul man. So, I'm writing again today because I also still love you and I understand that democrats argue about everything, no matter what.
But guys seriously—please put down your sticks a moment and join me in giving the president mad props for delivering the most embarrassing GOP negotiating loss in recent U.S. history.
Am I being hyperbolic and a tad over-the-top? Maybe, but I don’t think so. Check out this nugget from the National Journal:
CBO Says Budget Deal Will Cut Spending by Only $352 Million This Year
“A Congressional Budget Office analysis of the fiscal 2011 spending deal that Congress will vote on Thursday concludes that it would cut spending this year by less than one-one hundredth of what both Republicans or Democrats have claimed.
A comparison prepared by the CBO shows that the omnibus spending bill, advertised as containing some $38.5 billion in cuts, will only reduce federal outlays by $352 million below 2010 spending rates.
The nonpartisan budget agency also projects that total outlays are actually some $3.3 billion more than in 2010, if emergency spending is included in the total.”

My fellow progressive cousins and friends, are you still mad with Obama for brokering a deal that actually cuts less than 1% of the 38.5 billion-dollars that Boehner “was” celebrating?
Will you please give him a little credit now?
As I said yesterday, the GOP and many of us here keep making the same “Hillary/McCain mistakes over and over again about Obama. He’s not “soft”…people, but cunning, disciplined and the most politically savvy pol in DC. And, no—he never gets a 3:00 a.m. call in the morning because he always handles his business while the rest of us are asleep.
When Ryan introduced his plan to destroy America, the blogs went crazy. "Where’s Obama—why isn’t he fighting"—you know the drill. Even senate dems wrote publicly about how Obama needed to stand up for Medicare.
So yesterday, Ryan and his lil' soldiers sat on the front row—waiting for Obama to give their plan a nod. I mean, after all, he had just yukked it up with them earlier that morning.
So, the president recognized them and thanked them for their plan and then out of no-where, he reached deeper than CC Sabathia winding up a fast ball and --pow!! He threw a punch that knocked both of them completely out.
And while, they were slowly coming to their senses—ahh, you should have seen it—Obama dancing like Muhammed Ali—dancing, weaving, bobbing—jabbing with the left—pop!!--side the head-- saying, "we ain’t cutting Medicare—we ain’t cutting Medicare"—and, "take this for your grandma"—and, "we’re not slashing education"—and, "I will not give you cons another tax break"—"yeah shut-up right now, look directly in my face and listen to me you young neocon punks because I am still the freakin’ president of these United doggone States and you better not get that twisted!!"
Whew baby!!
And then, they were standing there dazed and confused at their press-conference—I almost felt bad for them (actually, not so much) because they had no idea what hit them. Their whining was so funny—"you know: see, see, see what had happened was—see, see, see, mommy Obama ain’t playing fair."
So again my progressive brethren, how do you like Obama’s negotiating prowess now? Folks, he didn't give away the farm and he saved our progressive programs which is exactly what we expect from him.
So can we please just finally agree that this great president knows what he’s doing and he will never, ever sell us out?
I sincerely hope so.
