Well, the news is in, and it’s not so good. The Progressive Caucus offered a budget, it’s been ruled in order, and it could be heard on the House floor tomorrow morning.
But corporate influences are keeping the will of the people from being done. So … maybe it’s time to light up those Congressional phones?
Here’s the deal - the Progressive Caucus is all over this. What we need to see down below is ONE call to each office confirming that they’re going to stand firm behind the budget.
There was also a Congressional Black Caucus budget released that was very similar. The thinking behind this should be merged with the budget of the Progressive Caucus, which should serve to strengthen our overall position.
The New Democrat Coalition needs attention. There are corporate influences here but a firm hand on their back from district residents can move them the right way.
The Blue Dog Caucus, much reduced during the 2010 midterm and awfully snotty towards Nancy Pelosi, well … if you’ve got one, whistle real loud and see if they sense the way the wind is blowing after the drubbing they took last fall. As I recall 54 went into that midterm, ignoring the needs of their district, and only 26 came out to tell the tale.
This is IT people - the fractured GOP majority, beset by corporate interests on one side and irrational tea bagger rhetoric on the other, is unable to provided leadership. We still have the Senate, we have a thoughtful, diplomatic president, and all we need is a little energy right here, right now, and we’ll get our way.
SCORE! Someone sent me the caucus phone list. We need to get these made up for the other groups, too.
