I’m seriously tiring of surfing through my morning read and finding countless articles about these ignorant birthers dominating the news on so many political and media sites.  You would think with three wars, a still jacked-up economy and serious problems all over the middle-east, “the media” would have plenty of substantive stories to write about.

But no, that’s no happening because at certain sites, “the birthers” are sucking all of the oxygen out of the place.  I don’t know if you’re paying real close attention to the fact that Mediaite appears to be leading the pack on this issue.  I mean seriously, they must have an entire CSI-type birther department that taps into every single thing these nuts have to say.

Naturally, they throw in their perfunctory disclaimers to shield themselves from their shameless promotion of these stupid birther theories but I am not buying it!!  I believe they run these incredible volumes of stories, videos, interviews and blog threads to throw more red-meat to their increasingly tea-party audience. That’s foul, lazy and unfortunate.

So, this morning, I decided to do my own little investigation into their shameful “birther promotion”  and people, I was absolutely shocked! Look at how frequent and comprehensively they have given voice to this fringe group!! I'm not talking about some minor blurbs on the bottom left corner, but prominently featured stories on their front pages. Check out their list of "birther" stories over just the past few months:

Folks, as you see, Mediaite's list is from only the past 4.5 months and excludes hundreds of other stories in which they "court" the birthers like this one:

Weird Politics: 2011 Delivers Doctor Who To The Oval Office
by Mark Joyella | January 1st, 2011

Here’s one for the birthers: a non-American in the Oval Office! In fact, we’re not entirely certain what he is, other than some kind of Time Lord and such.
http://www.mediaite.com/...

They openly admit in this story:  "here's one for the birthers."  Well guess what, it's not just "one" for "the birthers" there are hundreds since Obama was elected--that's graceful.

Sites like Mediaite are more interested in pimping hits to the tea party than informing the public about what's truly going on.

So from now on, whenever someone asks me why this totally debunked myth refuses to die, I will tell them that Mediaite is one of the main sites keeping this story alive.

Isn't it fair to say Mediaite is a birther?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

The media loves distraction......what could be more distracting than Donald Trump & his newfound birtherism.

If the media isn't pumping up the Tea Party or talking about how buff Paul Ryan's body is, they pretend Donald Trump is a serious candidate.

Personally, I'd like the media to talk to Donald's investigators about what they found on Obama's birth certificate in Hawaii.  When questioned about releasing  results of the investigation, Donald said "there's no rush".

Of course there's no rush because this is a publicity stunt given life by the MSM.  There's nothing to find.  Donald will stop carping about the birth certificate after his show is picked up for another season.

Then the media will go back to Paul Ryan & his fake tears about his fake plan to reduce the deficit.

Paul Ryan isn't cute to me.  I can't get past his ugly policies....no matter how hot the media thinks he is.

It was really amazing.  Even when John King tried to question her, I'm sure to many she came across as reasonable.

But Mr. King promised to raise the journalistic standards of his show.  Next week he'll be interviewing someone who was abducted by a UFO and was probed internally, followed by someone with some blurry but incredible pictures of Bigfoot.

If you read through their comments, the number of batshit crazy birther responses is dumbfounding.
