Yes, Objectivists, the movie adaptation of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged, Part One" opened in 299 theaters/movie screens this weekend. That is a decent number of screens for an independent production. So how did the film do? Let's just say that people were not lined up around the block.
The movie grossed a little over one million dollars. Seeing as the film's budget was reported to be $10 million, with about the same amount going towards advertising and marketing, the film has almost officially tanked, but, the producers may still make a piddling profit when all is said and done, including home video sales, television showings, and the like.

UPDATE: Movie review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes rates Atlas Shrugged at 6% Fresh. OUCH. That's in the same territory with legendary bombs like "Freddy Got Fingered." Link: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/...
