"Death Panels", what a successful emotionally evocative term. And it was not quite completely dishonest as a way of describing the reality of the aging of our population, and the fact that the cost of end of life care has the increasing potential to grow at an ungodly rate.
And we all know the "principled commitment" of our Republican federal legislators to fight "big government" at every opportunity. So it was only natural for the Ryan Budget to bypass the "panels", and just consign an ever growing number of seniors to death.
Increasingly remove government from the equation, issue puny vouchers for less well to do seniors to buy Medicare replacement health coverage with, and just let "The Free Market" go to town. After all, Capitalism means nothing so much as survival of the fittest. That and the right of insurance companies to earn a profit from providing any level of medical care to any and every segment of society that the companies deem necessary to guarantee an "adequate rate of return" to shareholders.
Anyway, we all have someone in heaven waiting for us, so what's the problem?
