As an American expat living in the European Union who lives under socialized medicine, who holds an MBA degree I can now see further that I could while I was in the States, because I'm removed from the plutocrats owned disinformation news networks which as they must all show a profit are tied to the plutocracy's bottom line. This doesn't mean that real journalism in America isn't dead, it does however mean it's on life support and the plutocracy has their hand on the plug if the power bill isn't paid.
In the GOP led class warfare above all the noise and above the Tea Party's union busting efforts we see the real lynch pin of American working class economic slavery, the embodiment of which is the for profit American health care system, whose very purpose in life via the mechanism of medical bankruptcy is to ensure that secure property ownership for the American working class can only be found in the American history books, because in today's modern reality it no longer exists practically speaking. For example you can work your entire life, and all it takes is one serious accident or illness for yourself or any of your family members, and then you have worked your entire life for nothing. This diary presents facts, figures and charts to back up that assertion, that you will never find published in the plutocrat owned media. And as this diary should have reached the recommended list will top out at a maximum of 3000 viewers, we know the plutocracy's secret that they have instituted a program of economic slavery, as a form of neo-feudalism in an act of class warfare against the American working class is a secret that will be kept safe, because the plutocracy owns the media and that means the truth won't get out try though as it may. In fact efforts like this one provide endless amusement for the plutocrats who wait until we yell ourselves hoarse and then start to laugh in our faces because so few people are listening. This time I challenge you my fellow progressives to show them what you can do and we'll see who has the last laugh today in America's union busting GOP led class warfare against the American working class.
The chart above demonstrates that while America spends twice the amount of money than other countries do, the health care quality isn't double what it is in other countries noted in the countries in the chart above. This is especially true of the fact that in America we have 59 million people who are uninsured, whereas in these other countries, though they are paying about half of we do in America, they insure 100 percent of their populations. In fact on the two measures noted in the chart that America doesn't rank right at the very bottom, it should be noted that the 59 million Americans who don't have access to health care weren't part of those datasets, otherwise America would have been dead last for every measure on the chart.
As someone who holds an MBA degree by way of a brief economic analysis we must conclude that despite America's spending virtually speaking double what other countries are, without receiving double the value, provides axiomatically speaking irrefutable evidence, that the profit taking motive in America in for profit health care system is sinking the economic quality of services delivered to the point wherein it becomes clear that the true purpose of the American health care system cannot be merely to provide good standards of health care, but instead to provide an income vehicle, that is recession proof, whose economic function it is to nationally redistribute income and assets from working class folks to the plutocracy's majority stakeholders, who own the for profit American health care system.
Let's be clear the plutocracy is using the American for-profit health care industry as a class warfare type economic weapon against the American working class. This provides a secure cap on the economic development of the American working class through this economic suppression mechanism which has made it impossible for working class Americans to ever be secure in their property or assets. Let's remember that demoralized and insecure, fearful people are easier to control, both as passive employees and an electorate that is too demoralized to show up at the polls on election day, secure in the knowledge that no matter which party's politicians are elected, the plutocracy's goal is to buy them off equally through campaign contributions, without which these politicians will find themselves to be unelectable.
Over 60 Percent Of All US Bankruptcies Attributable To Medical Problems
ScienceDaily (June 5, 2009) — In 2007, before the current economic downturn, an American family filed for bankruptcy in the aftermath of illness every 90 seconds; three-quarters of them were insured. Over 60% of all bankruptcies in the United States in 2007 were driven by medical incidents. In an article published in the August 2009 issue of the American Journal of Medicine, the results of the first-ever national random-sample survey of bankruptcy filers shows that illnesses and medical bills contribute to a large and increasing share of bankruptcies. The share of bankruptcies attributable to medical problems rose by 50% between 2001 and 2007.
Following up on a 2001 study in 5 states, where medical problems contributed to at least 46.2% of all bankruptcies, researchers from Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Harvard Law School and Ohio University surveyed a random national sample of 2,314 bankruptcy filers in 2007, abstracted their court records, and interviewed 1,032 of them. They designated bankruptcies as "medical" based on debtors' stated reasons for filing, income loss due to illness and the magnitude of their medical debts.
Using identical definitions in 2001 and 2007, the share of bankruptcies attributable to medical problems rose by 49.6%. The odds that a bankruptcy had a medical cause were 2.38 fold higher in 2007 than in 2001.

On health care reform and medical bankruptcy issues please consider altogether to stop reading the plutocrat owned media.
The case in point for this, was is 2005 Harvard University produced a prestigious study showing that in 2001 fully 54 percent of households filed bankruptcy due to medical costs in America. Since then when logically given the rate of medical inflation, one would conclude that figure in America must have risen. In fact it hasn't say some experts. So ask yourself why? Simply put their solution wasn't to fix the problem that was causing the medical bankruptcy in creating this eye popping horrific bankruptcies are medically related cost figures. Their solution to sink that figure was to make it much much harder to discharge medical debts through bankruptcy filings, therein lowering the figure that way, while concurrently increasing the profits of the for-profit medical industry.
To support this assertion please see the chart below.
Now there are other reasons why you should stop reading the plutocrat owned media's statistics attendant upon this issue, and that is that they hire literally legions of what may only be described as smart vermin to mercilessly attack any study, even one as prestigious as the Harvard study, with leading phrases like Harvard claims, and through creating massive confusion, wherein sophistry is employed to so completely distort and confuse the issue, as they cannot disprove it, so that any layperson who reads their bewilderment and statistical business analysis has to come away with vertigo, as if they had just been on a bewildering whiz bang rollercoaster ride, wherein their analysis had more faster twists and turns. The only sane conclusion that anyone could ever come to is to stop reading the plutocrat owned American media's disinformation campaign altogether, and instead on this and most other issues turn to reliable international media sources, as well as reading some alternative media on the subject. But let's please remember that the plutocrat owned media is like sitting down at the poker table with a dealer who has just dealt you a hand of marked cards, wherein there is no way to win, wherein in fact the only way to win is never to sit down at that table in the first place. Because if you sit at that table, you will lose.
BACKGROUND: Our 2001 study in 5 states found that medical problems contributed to at least 46.2% of all bankruptcies. Since then, health costs and the numbers of un- and underinsured have increased, and bankruptcy laws have tightened.
METHODS: We surveyed a random national sample of 2314 bankruptcy filers in 2007, abstracted their court records, and interviewed 1032 of them. We designated bankruptcies as “medical” based on debtors’ stated reasons for filing, income loss due to illness, and the magnitude of their medical debts.
RESULTS: Using a conservative definition, 62.1% of all bankruptcies in 2007 were medical; 92% of these medical debtors had medical debts over $5000, or 10% of pretax family income. The rest met criteria for medical bankruptcy because they had lost significant income due to illness or mortgaged a home to pay medical bills. Most medical debtors were well educated, owned homes, and had middle-class occupations. Three quarters had health insurance. Using identical definitions in 2001 and 2007, the share of bankruptcies attributable to medical problems rose by 49.6%. In logistic regression analysis controlling for demographic factors, the odds that a bankruptcy had a medical cause was 2.38-fold higher in 2007 than in 2001.
CONCLUSIONS: Illness and medical bills contribute to a large and increasing share of US bankruptcies

Please recommend these comments from fellow American expats who are members of the Dkos (which I have added to the diary!!) To which I ask please everyone speak out!! Let make our voices heard!
So that they will hear us all to way in Washington!!
Beyond the numbers: (0+ / 0-)
PEACE OF MIND. I've been living in Europe for the past 20 years and one of the best things about health care is piece of mind. Many American politicians are so fond of stating that the medical care in the States is the "best in the world" (which it isn't), but even those who say "it's the best if you can afford it" sometimes miss the larger point.
When we in Europe get sick, we go to the doctor. If we need to go to the hospital, we go to the hospital. I pull out my ID card when I arrive, and when I'm done, I leave. No bills to pay - no need to worry about insurance numbers and coverage--no ADDED STRESS. If I am unhappy with the care I've received, I can get another opinion. Thus, the only stress I feel is that which comes naturally with being ill.

Americans don't even realize... (2+ / 0-)
...how scarred they are. It's like a fish being unaware of the water in which it lives.
After we moved to France at the beginning of 2005, we joined the French health care system. Being dual citizens, it was very easy and practically free; we also took supplemental insurance, like everyone else.
Despite the fact that we understood that going to the doctor, the emergency room, the hospital, etc. was no longer an economic decision -- maybe a matter of spending 20 or 30 euros, tops -- it took us like TWO YEARS before we could fully "acclimatize" to the concept.

Unions can play an important role in bringing universal health care to America. When we stand alone, our politicians sell us out to the K street lobbyists. When we stand together in support of America's unions, politicians don't ignore us anymore because they can't afford to ignore America's unions. Our unions have an important role to play in bringing universal medical care to America. If you support universal health care then you have to support America's unions because the only way universal health care will ever come to America is with the help of our unions. It's only through the unions that we stand together united in the cause of a living wage and affordable health care for working class people.
Thanks for taking the time to read this diary. Please comment below! We need your support we need everyone to speak out!
Please everyone we need your support. We need your comments! Please stand with us. Stand up for America's unions!! Unions are our only hope because Washington is bought by the plutocracy! Americans need something to believe in and that something
