Governor Jay Nixon today announced he would veto Senate Bill 188. What is SB188?
In short, it is a bill that would make it easier for employers to discriminate against workers. It would place the responsibility on these who were discriminated against to prove they were indeed discriminated as opposed to putting responsibilities against employers to prove they did NOT discriminate.
In short, this bill would make it harder to prove that discrimination has taken place in the workplace.
It would roll back years of hard work protecting civil rights.
This bill is opposed by a large coalition which includes Missouri Association of the Deaf, AARP, Cancer Society, NAACP, and many more.
Here is Governor Nixon's statement
I'm asking Missouri residents here to please contact their legislature to ensure Governor Nixon's veto is sustained.
