The Daily Bucket is a place to catch your casual observations of the natural world and turn them into a valuable resource. Whether it's the first flowers of spring or that odd bug in your basement, don't be afraid to toss your thoughts into the bucket. Check here for a more complete description.
Canada Goose, week 3 on the nest. She was turning her eggs just before I took this picture.
Down on the lake, a Canada Goose began sitting on eggs sometime between April 2 and April 6. As you can see, the little hummock she's taken for her nest is a popular napping spot for many of the waterfowl that hang out in this little cove.
Given an average 28 day gestation, her goslings should emerge sometime between April 29 and May 4. I'll be checking the nest a couple times a day from here on out. Any bets?
