In most years since 1997 the annual Social Security Report came on right on its statutory deadline of March 31. But for the last three years it has been late, and while the reasons expressed for this make sense, they don't make too much sense, nor do the reasons why the Report which was traditionally released to everyone all at once (as far as I know) is now released to two groups, one of which oddly enough is the lead opponent.
Well odd or not AEI is holding an event discussing the 2011 Medicare Report which is always released at the same time as the 2011 Social Security Report (because it uses certain tables from the latter and vice versa) on Monday May 16th. The keynoter is Medicare Actuary Robert Foster, who obviously doesn't need a head up, but generally the attendees need something in hand.
So I am calling for an official release date of 10 AM EDT Monday May 16th, but it is possible they would release sometime on Friday to let the rest of us have a crack at it before all the framing is done by AEI.
Anyway there will be posts aplenty here on both the Medicare and Social Security numbers.
