Hat tip to Field Notes at Field and Stream
With more bird related baloney,,, I've been hearing a great horned owl that likes to hunt over our house at night. Lots of bats nest in our attic. When it flies by it lets out a chirp which are called "anoyed chitters" here, http://www.owlpages.com/... but I think it's something to do with the bats and messing with their hearing. I've seen it a few times, it's a regular B-52.
In more usefull things animal I took a couple hours intending to go for a walk but had to come back before I'd even gotten out of my car. Still with my eyes always looking through the trees and at the far ends of meadows I saw a spot that I knew wasn't a spot, and not a deer or horse, when I glassed it with my zoom I saw other spots behind the trees.
Eating as much grass as fast as they can, calf drop in another few weeks.
