While some may claim that "[insert company here] Sucks" groups on Facebook are childish, the reality is that they are a reflection of our frustation with corporations that have abandoned doing what is right for the American people.
Of all the insurance companies in America, only Aetna is prominently featured on Facebook with an Aetna Sucks group (link is unavailable, but search while logged onto Facebook will take two seconds).
Undoubtedly, for the people who have been screwed over by Aetna putting its profits before its patients, Aetna really does suck. Just as of last night individuals were discussing:
Horrible, horrible, horrible things that deserve to be read at the Aetna Sucks page in full.
If you want to better understand the moral argument behind single payer, Medicare for All, the Aetna Sucks page is a good place to start.
What's missing from Facebook, though? Pages to hold the other -- equally as evil -- big-profit insurers accountable.
Surely other individuals would share their stories about being screwed by CIGNA, United HealthCare, Humana or WellPoint (all for-profit Blue Cross/Shield plans are owned by this horrid corporation) if there were a proper place to do so on Facebook.
So, today's challenge: Who is up for creating a Facebook group for pissed consumers of each mega-profit insurer (besides Aetna, which is so bad it's already present) to receive support and share their horror stories?
Ready? Go! Links will be posted in a diary update.
And, remember, these horror stories are why we need single payer, Medicare for All NOW.
